An Arizona Native, Sally grew up in Grand Junction, Colorado on the Western Slope of the Rocky Mountains. She sketched and painted as a child, while observing her artist father, William “Bill” Marek, create beautiful oils and watercolors. While busy raising a family and working she promised herself to paint more “someday”. After a move to Tucson in May of 2000 she returned to her love of art and began to paint and study with local and national artists.
Sally has studied with resident artists Deanne Thibault, Elizabeth Quinn Worrall, and Francheskaa. Study with visiting artists has included Eric Weigardt, Don Andrews, Stan Miller, and Carl Dalio. She makes use of watercolor, acrylic, ink and collage in a representational, painterly, and more recently, abstract style. She is a member of the Southern Arizona Watercolor Society and a member and Past President of the Southern Arizona Arts Guild (SAAG), 2010-2011.
